About This Project

Understanding poverty and hunger through data visualization

Our Mission
Making global poverty and hunger data accessible to everyone

This platform was created for the GNEC Hackathon 2025 to visualize progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty) and 2 (Zero Hunger). We believe that data-driven insights are crucial for understanding and addressing global challenges.

By providing an interactive, accessible interface to explore UN SDG data, we aim to empower researchers, policymakers, educators, and citizens to track progress, identify trends, and make informed decisions about poverty and hunger eradication efforts.

The Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 1: No Poverty
End poverty in all its forms everywhere

The first Sustainable Development Goal aims to eradicate extreme poverty for all people everywhere, currently measured as people living on less than $2.15 a day.

Key Targets:

  • • By 2030, reduce extreme poverty to below 3% globally
  • • Reduce at least by half the proportion of people living in poverty
  • • Ensure equal rights to economic resources and basic services
  • • Build resilience of the poor and vulnerable
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security

The second Sustainable Development Goal aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.

Key Targets:

  • • By 2030, end hunger and ensure access to safe, nutritious food year-round
  • • End all forms of malnutrition
  • • Double agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers
  • • Ensure sustainable food production systems
